It boasts the Magnumlite Spool to lower the moment of inertia and to improve the casting distance by up to 15%. Featuring a Hagane body for strong performance without tilting and any warping despite a lightweight body, it is fortified with Shimano's newest set of reel technology: the MicroModule Gearing to ensure smooth, frictionless gyration, X-Ship technology for more smoothness and durability, and the SVS Infinity braking system for fine-tuning. The Shimano Chronarch MGL Baitcasting Reel is available in 6.2:1, 7.1:1, and 8.1:1 gear ratios in both Right and Left Hand retrieve.

Note: due to the magnesium alloy found in the Magnumlite spool, Shimano does not recommend this reel for saltwater applications.
